Product description

Hill’s Prescription Diet Feline s/d Urinary Care was developed by veterinarians especially to help support your cat's bladder health and to aid disintegration of struvite crystals and stones.

Vet Food Disclaimer

Many cats suffer from FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease), a complex and painful disease of the lower urinary tract, frequently associated with the formation of crystals which can lead to bladder stones. The two most frequent types of crystal which form in the urinary tract are struvite and calcium phosphate. Hill’s Prescription Diet Feline s/d Urinary Care Chicken helps to reduce both of these types of urinary stones.

Struvite crystals and stones tend to develop because of too much magnesium, ammonium and phosphorus in the urine and an alkaline urine pH. Hill’s Prescription Diet Feline s/d Urinary Care Chicken aids the disintegration of struvite stones by making the urine pH more acidic which helps to dissolve struvite stones.

First taste
It's a shame that the Hill's Prescription Diet Feline S/D is only available in the flavour Chicken. Are there any other flavours available? Best regards.

Good quality and tasty
My cat finds this food delicious! He wants nothing else (which does have the disadvantage that he doesn't like the other C/D version. But what is more important for me is that it makes my cat feel better. This food dissolved my cat's urine stones very quickly! After half a day he could urinate properly again, and now he's as fit as a fiddle. Definitely recommend this food!

Cat saved!
This is a super food! My female cat had been operated on for her urinary problems and was very weak. After eating this food she became healthy again and more active. Her coat looks better and she thinks it is extremely tasty.

Excellent
My cat has been struggling with a variety of urinary disorders. So far, no product has given us a lasting solution. But since Hill's S/D he seems to be improving. I won't be changing foods again!

Outstanding
Unfortunately our youngest male of less than 3 years old has bladder stones. Symptoms include: blood in urine, difficulty urinating, urinating outside the litter tray, frequent urination, urinating small amounts, lethargy, excessive licking of genital. It is important to visit the vet immediately if you recognise it, because a clogged urinary tract can be fatal within half a day!!! We had given him Royal Canin Urinary food to resolve the bladder stones, but we've had more success with Hill's SD. We ordered it in consultation with our vet, and we don't intend to use it permanently, as we will later switch to Hill's CD. It's important to know that cats with bladder stones must eat a special prescription diet for the rest of their lives to prevent them from re-forming. With CD they can easily live just as happy and long a life as any normal cat. so it's no problem. They also don't need a lot of the food, so it's not too expensive. At zooplus it's a lot cheaper than in vets or stores. We and the cat are very happy!

Not very tasty!
Although I do not doubt the quality of the food I still wonder whether the daily required amount is enough. On Hills S/D our cat seems to go on hunger strike, as she doesn't like the taste of it! So we cheat by mixing this food with a bit of Royal Canin Sterilised 37 which seems to generate her appetite and provides the necessary daily dose of vitamins. This doesn't seem to have lessened the effect of the Hills food, but she still leaves a lot of Hills in her bowl!

Cat back to health
After two episodes of significant cystitis with stones and blood in the urine, our young cat is now completely healthy. She eats Hills Prescription Diet Feline S/D happily, and so we're all happy too!

Expensive but good
My cat was very poorly and finally my vet recommended this food. Even though it is a bit expensive I still buy it because it's by far the best for my cat.
