Cleaning the fountain:
Wash the fountain once per week with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, before rinsing thoroughly. Be particularly careful that no traces of soap remain.

Cleaning the filter:
Remove the filter from the base and rinse. Do not wash the filter with soap or detergent. Be sure to also clean the foam section of the filter, to ensure the water can still pass through the foam.
If the filter is dirty or contains particles, replace it (replacement filters can be purchased separately). Replace the filter every three weeks or as soon as it shows signs of being saturated with particles (dirty, food waste, hairs etc). It may need changing more regularly depending on individual living environment or water quality, as well as if it is being used by multiple cats.

Cleaning the pump:
Please check the drive magnet ("propeller", "impeller") by removing it from the pump and carefully wiping it clean with a cloth. The drive magnet resembles a propeller or rotor.
As tap water contains limescale, it can cause your pet's drinking water to calcify over time. It can therefore be beneficial to not only remove dirt from the drive magnet several times per year, but also to clean it with vinegar. To do this, pour some vinegar into a bowl. Dilute it with a little tap water and dip a cloth into it. Use the damp cloth to carefully wipe the drive magnet and its surroundings. It is very important that all parts are thoroughly rinsed with tap water after cleaning, as vinegar and other cleaning agents can be harmful to pets.
Please clean the pump at least every 4 weeks.
