More like a mat! The sides are flat not raised up sturdy like the pic and and the base is just thin.

Great value
The three dogs are very happy with the beds. Light and washable and perfectly presentable for the price. One dog chews a bit and does not know the difference between cheap and expensive things! So particularly great beds for him.
